The Jesuitenmission serves in solidarity with the world’s poor.

This service is inspired by the Good News of Jesus Christ and his way of acting:

  • By his special love for the poor, the economically, socially, culturally, ethnically, and religiously excluded people.
  • By his healing and liberating action
  • By his openness and generosity
  • By his hope and proclamation of the Kingdom of God
  • By suffering, death and resurrection.

As an institution of the German Jesuits, the Jesuitenmission supports the worldwide work of the Society of Jesus, work which is entrusted to the order by the Gospel and by the Church.

This mission includes the struggle for faith and justice, the promotion of the inculturation of the faith and interreligious dialogue.

The Jesuitenmission builds bridges and networks of worldwide solidarity between people of all religions, cultures, races and social classes.  It facilitates the collaboration between people in Europe and people in Africa, Asia and Latin America.

Solidarity with the poor begins with concrete help from people in Europe in response to urgent needs as well as the promotion of integral human development and which points to empowerment and sustainability.

Solidarity with the poor also means political advocacy for human rights and for the changing of unjust structures from the prophetic perspective of the Gospel.

We believe in the changing power of the Church in poor countries, and for this reason we support local pastoral endeavours.  For us, the formation of Church leaders, especially young Jesuits, is an investment in the future.
