Board of Directors of the Jesuitenmission
The Board of Directors of the Jesuitenmission consists of five members who are appointed by the provincial of the German Jesuit Province. The three laypeople and two Jesuits offer their knowledge, experience and time to the Jesuitenmission. The Board of Directors plays an important role in leading our organization. It advises the Missions Procurator on key issues, and determines the allocation of donations which are not given for a particular project. Also, the Board approves the budget and examines the financial statements of the Jesuitenmission.

The President of the Board of Directors is Jürgen Helm. He has been very close to the Jesuitenmission since his youth. A specialist in Human Resources Management and Data Processing, he is an invaluable help to the Missions Procurator in all questions about personnel and in fundamental strategic decisions.

Johannes Müller, S.J., is Professor of Sociology and Development Policy at the Jesuit University for Philosophy in Munich, as well as the director of that university’s Social Policy Institute. His expert knowledge of development policy and development cooperation is very helpful to the Board, especially in the evaluation of projects and sustainable development strategies.

A professional banker, Gerhard Seger brings great clarity to financial questions, which makes him an essential member of our team. By overseeing the allocation of project funds and carrying out careful audits, he ensures that donations go “where there is greatest need and where there will be greatest apostolic impact,” as stipulated in the Board’s statutes.

For many years, Josef Singer, S.J., directed the Jesuit European Volunteers (JEV), an initiative of the Jesuit order which allows young people to cooperate with social projects in Germany and other European countries. He brings this experience to the Jesuitenmission, where as a Board member, he has helped build our two volunteer programs, Jesuit Mission Volunteers (JMV) and WorldWide-Experiment (WeWEx).
